Grand Opera House To Program Schwartz Center For The Arts In Dover Delaware

WILMINGTON, DE (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Effective immediately, Stephen Bailey of the Grand Opera House will assume programming duties for the Schwartz Center in Dover, Delaware. The 600-seat Schwartz Center underwent a $4 million renovation in 2001 and has hosted a variety of nationally touring entertainment since reopening.

Bailey says that the one, two punch of programming two venues will benefit both organizations because of the routing possibilities for artists. Although the venues are geographically close (about 50 miles apart), the markets generally won’t interfere with each other. “We definitely feel that many shows can play both venues and that the attractiveness in terms of routing will be a major plus for our efforts.” Says Bailey.

The 2005 – 2006 season is the main focus right now although opportunities for shows over the next few months will be aggressively pursued. The programming will be eclectic and will reflect the diversity of the Dover community. Dover is home to Wesley College and the Dover Air Base as well as being the state capitol. “I think we’ll try to do some shows that will be attractive to the college students and we’ll also look at what we think will appeal to the military personnel stationed at the air base. The permanent residents of the area offer a pretty wide ranging demographic so the programming will reflect all of these interests.” said Bailey – CelebrityAccess Staff Writer.
