Clara Fernández is showing off her strength in a two-piece workout ensemble. In a new social media post the influencer looks incredibly fit, showing off her taut tummy in a crop top and leggings while squatting with heavy weights on her shoulders. She shared the video via her Instagram Stories. How does the athlete approach diet and fitness? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

As a track and field star, Fernández spends a good amount of time training, especially sprinting and jumping since she is a pole vaulter. Pole vaulting is a form of cardio because you need to run fast before launching yourself into the air. "Even if you're unlikely to start flinging your body to amazing heights anytime soon, there's plenty to learn from watching Olympic pole-vaulters. Dr. Jones suggests watching the incredible core and upper body strength of vaulters, as well as their unique running style and power," says Adventist Health.

Fernández focuses heavily on strength training and regularly shares her workout on social media. They include deadlifting (heavy, heavy weights) and squatting with a barbell. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

In the Instagram Stories clip, Clara shows how strong she is by squatting with heavy weights. According to Kendra Gamble of HIT Fitness, squats offer a "multitude of benefits." Doing them helps "increase strength, size and power of quads (front part of legs), glutes (butt), hamstrings (back of legs), calves, adductors (inner thighs), tendons and ligaments, and lowers your chances of knee and ankle injuries," she tells The Body Network.

Clara is a runner, and uses the treadmill and runs outside. According to the Mayo Clinic, running is great for cardiovascular health, muscle building, and weight loss. "For every mile run, the average person will burn approximately 100 calories," they say.

Clara surfs for her mental and physical healthl. "Up north," she wrote about a recent photo of herself with a surfboard in hand. According to the Australian government's Better Health, surfing provides many health benefits including cardiovascular fitness from paddling, shoulder and back strength, which also strengthens from the paddling, and leg and core strength. "Once you're standing up on the board, strong legs and a strong core will keep you up," they say.

Clara fuels her body with healthy food so she can perform on the field. In a recent Instagram Story she revealed one of her go-to healthy breakfast meals: An acai bowl with whey protein, strawberries, blueberries, walnuts, and coconut flakes.
